Hyundai Motor Group has opened a driving experience center in South Korea, and this is said to be the largest in Asia. The place is called the HMG Driving Experience Center, and it is gaining attention because it gives everyone a chance to try out various facets of professional driving.
This means that the public can use the facility to try driving including speed racing. People can start the driving experience on Sept. 16.
Hyundai Motor’s driving experience hub is located in Taean, South Chungcheong Province, inside Hankook Tire & Technology's proving ground facility. As per The Korea Times, the South Korean tire company opened the said facility in May to test out its new tire products four days a week - from Monday to Thursday.
When testings are over, Hankook will lend the place to Hyundai Motor so its customers can test-drive their vehicles from Friday to Saturday. There are eight driving courses in the facility, and people can try out braking, off-road, drift, acceleration, slalom, and three other driving modes.
"This center embodies the Hyundai Motor Group's will to realize 'the possibility of future mobility into the daily life of customers,'" Hyundai Motor’s chairman Chung Eui Sun, said during the launch last week. "We will strive to provide visitors with an innovative driving experience and at the same time contribute to regional development."
He added, “We will offer another level of customer value here in this Asia’s largest driving course.”
The Korea Economic Daily reported that with the facility, the Korean automaker is aiming to attract at least 15,000 customers per year. Customers will see more features at the center including an area for the exhibition of new models and concept cars.
Hyundai Motor also built a 100,223 square-meter second-story building at the facility. It will have a virtual circuit simulator before the real test-driving as well as lounge sections where customers can relax. There will be outlets for food and drinks so the place will be a complete rest area for those who want to try out vehicle models for a full driving experience.
