Apple Watch 5 release date: Will Cupertino-based company upgrade device’s battery life for supposed sleep tracking feature?

The Apple Watch 5 remains one – if not = the most anticipated wearable this year as it’s reportedly packed with health features that are useful for tracking an individuals’ wellness. With the fourth entry introducing ECG and Irregular Rhythm monitoring, one addition that will elevate both features is native sleep tracking.

But for this feature to truly be applicable, the Cupertino-based company will need to provide the Apple Watch 5 a remarkable battery life that would justify its inclusion. For reference, the Apple Watch 4 has a battery life of 24-hours.

Apple Watch 5 may not upgrade its battery by massive margins

While this may be acceptable for some, it’s not enough for the sleep tracking software, especially with other products offering a beefier battery life. For instance, the Amazfit Bip Smartwatch by Huami has a 30-day battery life and provides a sleep tracking feature itself, BGR reported. If the Apple Watch 5 wants to compete on this front, then its battery needs to see a significant improvement.

Unfortunately, it appears that Apple isn’t planning to outfit the Apple Watch 5 with such a massive upgrade. Phone Arena suggests that the upcoming entry for the series will only see a “slightly longer battery life” than its predecessor.

Apple Watch 5 may see a 20 percent price increase compared to its predecessor

However, it’s worth noting that the Apple Watch 5’s strength isn’t only rooted in its supposed sleep tracking features but on a multitude of advantages. From menstrual cycle monitoring and warning users of dangerous decibel levels to keeping an eye out for a user’s blood pressure and identifying harmful chemicals through an olfactory function, there are just too many of these features that would entice people to buy the device.

Which brings us to its price. The Apply Watch 4 was tagged with $400 after being provided with significant upgrades. If the Apple Watch 5 is treated similarly, then that figure might see an increase of 20 percent. That places it at $480 for the base model. Of course, this is merely speculation at this point, and we’ll just have to wait for September to confirm how much is Apple asking for the Apple Watch 5.
