Joe Biden’s Prostate Cancer Has Spread Further, Hunter Biden Says

Former U.S. President Joe Biden’s prostate cancer has spread beyond his bones and is causing significant pain, according to his son, Hunter Biden, who discussed his father’s health in a BBC interview.

Speaking to the BBC’s “Newsnight,” Hunter Biden said the cancer had “metastasized into his bones and further,” describing the illness as painful and debilitating. His comments provided a new update on the former president’s condition after Biden publicly disclosed his cancer diagnosis in May 2025.

A spokesperson for Biden declined to comment on Hunter Biden’s latest remarks.

Biden, 83, announced less than four months after leaving the White House that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. At the time, his office confirmed that the disease had already spread to his bones.

In October, a Biden spokesperson said the former president was receiving radiation treatment and hormone therapy as part of his prostate cancer care. The latest comments from Hunter Biden suggest the disease has since progressed further, although Biden’s representatives have not publicly provided additional details about the extent of the cancer.

Biden served as U.S. president from 2021 to 2025 after defeating Donald Trump in the 2020 election. At the time of his election, he became the oldest person ever elected to the U.S. presidency. Questions surrounding Biden’s physical health and mental acuity received considerable attention throughout his time in office.

Despite his cancer diagnosis and ongoing treatment, Biden has continued to make some public appearances. In June, he attended the dedication of former President Barack Obama’s presidential library in Chicago. Biden served as Obama’s vice president for eight years, from 2009 until 2017.

The former president is also preparing for the publication of his presidential memoir, which is scheduled to be released on November 17.
