Apple’s line of tracking devices could be launched earlier than expected. A couple of leakers who have had reliable reports in the past now suggest that the AirTags could be unveiled in November.
AirTags release date could happen in 2020
Due to the AirTags’ design and function, many anticipated it to be announced alongside the new iPhones last month. However, right before the event, it was reported that Apple would not be launching the Tile-like device and it might not be unveiled until 2021.
Over the last week, the rumor mill seems rife with AirTags updates pointing at a potential announcement before the end of 2020. One of the most accurate Apple leakers, L0vetodream, tweeted last Oct. 20 about a “big one” and “small one” devices that are “coming soon.” L0vetodream is known for masking his information leaks in cryptic messages, and most of his Twitter followers did not immediately connect that post to the AirTags until he followed it up with a tweet that simply reads, “tag TAG.”
A few days later, Jon Prosser reported that the AirTags was undergoing “final performance testing” at the time and that will conclude on Nov. 6. He added that Apple products that pass this stage “typically ship within 30 days” leading to the prediction that Apple’s own line of trackers could be announced in the anticipated November event.
All final performance testing for AirTags (B389) will be 100% completed on November 6.

After this testing, products typically ship within 30 days.
Sure looks like we’re getting AirTags for sure at the November event.
Apple has yet to announce a November event, but the tech giant is highly expected to hold another product launch this month dedicated to the new Macs -- the first ones powered by ARM-based Apple silicon. Of course, people are supposed to take leaks with a grain of salt. But it is worth noting that both L0vetodream and Prosser have both proven to have solid sources in the past.

Prosser previously released a video on his YouTube channel showing a 3D render of the supposed design of the AirTags that he reportedly saw from a leaked video sent to him by a source. But, if people guessed correctly, L0vetodream’s previous tweet could also be hinting at the AirTags arriving in two different sizes. Now that the iPhone 12 series is confirmed to support MagSafe accessories, it would not be surprising if the AirTags will also include some sort of magnetic feature to complement Apple’s new smartphones.
