Lecturer in Media Law, University of Essex
Dr. Alexandros K. Antoniou is a Lecturer in Media Law. His research interests lie principally, but not exclusively, within the fields of communications law, intellectual property asset management, and cybercrime. He is the lead author of The Rise of Extreme Porn (Palgrave Macmillan 2017) and a legal correspondent for the European Audiovisual Observatory, reporting regularly on matters concerning media law and regulation, as well as intellectual property. Alexandros was awarded a PhD in Law by The City Law School (City University London). He also completed an MA in Cultural & Creative Industries (Kings College London) and an LLM in Media Law (City University London), after having read law at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Alexandros has previously held academic appointments at Birkbeck, University of London, Glasgow Caledonian University London, the University of West London and the European Business School London. He has also conducted research in the high-profile Designing Out Crime project, which was developed by the Design Council and the Home Offices Design & Technology Alliance against Crime. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and an Accredited Mediator.
