Notable Apple leaker Jon Prosser has confirmed what many tech fans have been anticipating about the iPhone 12 Pro launch schedules. The higher-tier models are reportedly getting announced along with the entire iPhone series, but will not arrive in stores until November.
iPhone 12 Pro announcement and release date appear in new leaks
Many were already expecting Apple to experience some delays in launching the iPhone 12 series after earlier reports that its supply chain in Asia had been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. While Apple is still expected to keep the iPhone 12 dates within Fall 2020, it appears the iPhone 12 Pro models are still getting a much later delivery schedule.
Prosser reported that the iPhone 12 announcement is slated in Week 42 that will commence on Oct. 12. Preorders for the iPhone 12 units (rumored to be 5.4” and 6.1” variants) will purportedly open on the same day as the unveiling event. Its shipping is eyed to begin a week later.
Plans for the 6.1” iPhone 12 Pro and 6.7” iPhone 12 Pro Max are slightly different, though. While these are rumored to be announced in October, Prosser’s sources claimed preorders and shipping will not happen until November. Apple has reportedly not determined yet which week these events will take place.

The staggered shipments have been one of the scenarios considered for the iPhone 12 series following Apple’s COVID-19 woes. Apple has yet to confirm these details, but it is also not strange for the company to use this strategy in launching the new devices. The iPhone X was announced in September 2017 but did not arrive in stores until Nov. 3 that year. The iPhone XR shipments also commenced more than a month later (Oct. 26) than the iPhone XS units (Sept. 21) in 2018.
iPhone 12 Pro rumors specs and price: What to expect
Prosser had also reported on the iPhone 12 Pro prices in an earlier leak, and it could be enough reason for Apple fans to remain patient and wait for the release of the Pro models. The iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max are rumored to be sold at starting prices $999 and $1,099, respectively. This suggests similar pricing as the iPhone 11 Pro models from last week.
Considering the specs upgrades rumored for the iPhone 12 Pro units, these prices are even more impressive. The entire iPhone 12 series is expected to have OLED panels and 5G network. But like last year, only the Pro-labeled models will have three cameras on the back along with a new addition, the LiDAR scanner.
