As iPhone 12’s production approaches, more information about its specs and features get leaked into the wild, but not all information will excite Apple fans. An alleged certification for batteries of the upcoming smartphones suggests that its milliampere-hour (mAh) capacity would be downgraded.
iPhone 12’s batteries are not better than those in iPhone 11?
Next-generation smartphones are always expected to be upgraded in most, if not all, aspects of the device. However, a recently discovered certification filing allegedly for iPhone 12 batteries suggests that the batteries for upcoming Apple smartphones are will be slightly worse than what was included in the iPhone 11 lineup.
The documents, first spotted by My Smart Price, show model numbers and mAh capacities of three different batteries identified as A2471 (2,227 mAh), A2431 (2,775 mAh), and A2466 (3,687). Apple fans should note the files shown in the report does not specifically say which battery goes into which iPhone 12 model. But the same report suggests that the smallest battery will be used on the 5.4-inch iPhone 12, the middle variant is possibly for the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro, and the biggest battery could be for the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max.
The reported mAh capacities of the three batteries are generally lower than the iPhone 11 batteries, per the GSMArena specs sheets. Last year’s iPhones had batteries that range from 3,110 mAh to 3,969 mAh.
Meanwhile, it is still premature to judge the iPhone 12 series and how long they would last per charge just based on this information. The processor plays a huge role in the overall performance of the device that then affects battery consumption. Since known information about the A14 Bionic is still scant, there is still a chance that the chip was designed to complement smaller battery packs.
Another leaker claims iPhone 12 Pro models are getting RAM boost
The rumored iPhone 12 RAM configurations offer a better story. One of the leakers on Twitter (@L0vetodream) tweeted that the “Professional” model, referring to iPhone 12 Pro, will have 6GB RAM while the vanilla iPhone 12 will remain at 4GB similar to the iPhone 11 series.

General 4GB
Moving up to the 6GB RAM territory is not surprising, and it has been one of the anticipated benefits of having the A14 Bionic on the iPhone 12 series. Fans, however, will have to wait until the last quarter of 2020 to experience these expected improvements.
