Tensions remain at its height between China and several other nations over certain regions. Concerns of a possible world war 3 breaking out have been raised even more as its military has ramped up preparations for potential conflicts by including more drills.
During the weekend, employees of car factories in China were mobilized by the People’s Liberation Army as they underwent military civic “deep-fusion” exercises that took place in southwestern China. These drills were requisition orders for platform trailers. During these drills, car factories with their equipment and staff were repurposed to turn 20-ton semi-trailer trucks into larger vehicles. The vehicles will then be able to transport a 40-ton Type 59 main battle tank on China’s highways.
The conversion of these vehicles supposedly took eight hours to complete. This would also prove essential in transporting military vehicles. Other protocols that were carried out during these drills included moving car production lines in order to make all-terrain capable light combat vehicles. These vehicles will then be able to quickly transport troops and equipment.
“The People’s Liberation Army conducted intensive military exercises in the Taiwan Straits region recently,” said Chinese state media Global Times. “One of the purposes was to deal with challenges during the US government transition. Once the US and Taiwan island touch the bottom line, the mainland will fight a war that it is fully prepared for.”
The drills will be taking place until the end of the month and indicated that Beijing was preparing for possible all-out conflicts.
Meanwhile, UK prime minister Boris Johnson announced that the country will increase its defense budget to up to 2.2 percent of the GDP which would be more than any other country in the European Union. Johnson made the remarks online at the Commons, where he pledged to put an end to slashing defense budgets. Johnson explained that the increase in the UK’s defense budget is especially important at this time due to the global situation. The prime minister also pledged to restore the country’s distinction of being a naval power in the European continent and that the increased spending would have an effect on the UK’s national security in 20 years.
