Major video game hardware makers are opening a new decade with the release of next-generation consoles. And it appears that Nintendo will be joining the bandwagon if an analyst’s prediction about the Nintendo Switch Pro would become a reality.
The Nintendo Switch Pro has been rumored before, but the Japanese video game company has yet to recognize its existence or development. However, gaming industry expert Dr. Serkan Toto of Kantan Games is very confident that 2020 would be the year the said console would be unveiled.
Nintendo Switch Pro release date, specs, price
In a 2020 predictions roundup on GamesIndustry.biz, Toto reiterated his previous prediction on the imminent release of Nintendo Switch Pro. Last year, the analyst speculated that the console’s Pro and Lite versions would be released before the 2010s ended. Only the Lite console made it into the market, but Toto is now revisiting his forecast on the Nintendo Switch Pro.
The analyst very confident that 2020 would be the year when Nintendo Switch Pro would finally arrive in stores saying, “There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Nintendo will launch a ‘Switch Pro’ in 2020.” Toto added that the upcoming gaming hardware could be priced at $399 – that’s a hundred bucks more expensive than the Switch’s original price.
Nintendo Switch Pro specs, release date rumors
Toto also suspects that the Nintendo Switch Pro would feature major upgrades that could explain the potential price increase. The rumored device is expected to support 4K games and make room for “bigger cartridge sizes” along with other upgraded parts.
In an earlier report on the Wall Street Journal last March, the Nintendo Switch Pro was also speculated to be an upgraded version of the console. However, supply chain sources suggested it would not be on par with the capabilities of PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X.
The Katan Games analyst also predicts that the Nintendo Switch Pro would be released sometime in the “summer holidays.” This way, it would avoid an already fierce competition slated in the 2020 holiday season with the confirmed launches of Sony’s PS5 and Xbox’s Project Scarlett console.
