Joe Biden and his administration have already previously warned of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases despite a few vaccines already being made available. The Biden White House is now considering pushing through with a plan that was previously scrapped by the Trump administration regarding masks.
Three people familiar with the matters have revealed that the Biden White House is considering the plan to send masks to all Americans. This was a plan that was previously floated by the Trump administration but ultimately scrapped. The COVID-19 response team is already looking into the logistics of sending out millions of face masks but has yet to reach a decision. The team has yet to send a proposal to Biden to get final approval. This plan was raised among the medical advisers recently, especially as Biden continues to urge the public to still wear face masks in places where social distancing cannot be practiced.
Shortly after getting sworn in as president, Biden had already signed executive actions that would mandate wearing masks aboard public transportation and on federal properties. When the masks would be sent out to all Americans has yet to be determined as well as how many masks would be provided per household and if they are disposable or reusable. The costs of this plan have also yet to be determined. A decision memo has also yet to go through the policy process. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that there is still a range of options to consider but nothing has been chosen yet.
In other related news, Biden’s son Hunter Biden will be releasing his own memoir on April 6. Titled “Beautiful Things,” it will focus on Mr. Biden’s publicized struggles with substance abuse. The memoir will be published by Gallery Books. Dating as far back as 2019, the memoir was kept a secret even as Mr. Biden’s business deals in Ukraine resulted in the impeachment of Donald Trump. Hunter has been an ongoing target by Trump and his allies.
The memoir circulated among authors and has blurbs by prominent writers like Stephen King, Anne Lamott, and Dave Eggers, praising the book.
