I am fascinated by migration and dispersal in ecology, and human-wildlife interactions.
After an apprenticeship and 10-year career as an aircraft mechanic in the Royal Air Force, I embarked on a career change. I studied Natural Sciences with the Open University and then completed an undergraduate biology degree and PhD at the University of St Andrews.
I have a broad interest in ecology, with a focus on animal movement and spatial ecology, especially migration and dispersal, and human-wildlife and animal-plant interactions. My PhD involved studying the migration and dispersal ecology of the Cyprus wheatear.
I am currently working as a member of the COVID-19 Bio-Logging Initiative. This is a global collaboration using bio-logging data to understand if and how animals responded to changes in human mobility during lockdowns.
