ADELAIDE, Australia, Nov. 13, 2017 -- Allscripts (NASDAQ:MDRX) is in partnership with South Australia Health to deliver the Allscripts Sunrise™ product suite across the state of South Australia. The latest activation occurred on 4 September at the new flagship, 800-bed Royal Adelaide Hospital which replaces the old hospital originally built in 1841.
The new hospital was completed in August this year and is the latest addition to the specially-designed Health Precinct which includes the South Australia Health & Medical Research Centre and campuses for the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia. The hospital has 700 private rooms, 100-bed day patient suite, 40 operating rooms, 60 ICU beds and 70 emergency cubicles. Patient rooms are within two minutes’ walk of more than 70 courtyards, terraces and sky gardens. The site has more than 100,000 trees and plants across nine levels. The $2.3 billion hospital, the second most-expensive building in the world, will provide care to about 85,000 inpatients and 400,000 outpatients per annum.
The Royal Adelaide Hospital is promising to be a genuine ‘high-tech hospital of the future.’ From stainless steel high-tech robots that can talk to lifts, doors and portable phones and carry goods around the hospital, to a pneumatic tube system that transports specimens to 74 stations, this is one of the world’s most advanced health facilities in the world and it is only appropriate that Allscripts Sunrise is the hospital’s electronic health record.
Allscripts Sunrise is an integrated suite of clinical and financial solutions used by leading hospitals and health systems in the USA, U.K, Canada, Australia and Singapore. Sunrise is a highly configurable solution that offers clinician-specific workflows to help drive adoption of clinical decision support, which can lead to improved patient outcomes.
“The activation of this wonderful new hospital was very capably delivered in a professional manner with excellent attention to a successful outcome,” said Allscripts Chief Executive Officer, Paul M. Black. “I’d like to express my appreciation and congratulations to the South Australia Health and Allscripts teams for their effective leadership and focus in driving the successful transition to this new, state-of-the-art hospital. The Sunrise suite will provide South Australia Health with an even greater opportunity to transform health care delivery through better technology to the benefit of patients and clinicians.”
David Chambers, Allscripts Asia/Pacific Managing Director said that Royal Adelaide Hospital offers the latest innovations across health, education and research and has been established to offer the highest quality of patient care to South Australians. “The partnership between South Australia Health and Allscripts will enable South Australia Health to continue to develop integrated models of care for its patient population,” he said.
