‘Minecraft Earth’ release date: Microsoft trying to avoid lawsuits faced by Niantic due to Pokestops placements

Mojang is currently preparing “Minecraft Earth” for its release this year. The developers have now incorporated Android and iOS users into the closed beta version, allowing for more players to send feedback to the team.

The feedback is extremely important for “Minecraft Earth” since it will determine the locations that Tappables and Adventures will be located. Microsoft is trying to avoid the mess that Niantic got itself into when the company got sued by people after Pokestops were placed near their homes.

“This being Microsoft, we have an army of people that figure these things out for what’s a good place to play. And how do we help people that say, ‘No, that’s not for me. I don’t want it at my house or by my shop,” said Saxs Persson, creative director of “Minecraft.” The bad news is that “Minecraft Earth” is only limited to five cities.

Available cities for Minecraft Earth

London, Seattle, Stockholm, Tokyo, and Mexico City are the only places where you can play the game, TC reported. Indeed, some content creators have to travel to these locations just to play “Minecraft Earth” and see what’s all the excitement is about.

It’s important to remember, however, that the beta version doesn’t offer much in terms of gameplay. “Minecraft Earth” is only allowing players to harvest resources, build them, and populate it with mobs. And while some lucky content creators have been able to play Adventure Mode, not everyone will be able to experience right now, TheVerge reported.

So what is this Adventure Mode? Put simply, it’s a quest in “Minecraft Earth” that allows players to crawl through a dungeon teeming with traps and monsters. It is highly encouraged that players enter this mode in groups as there’s a possibility of losing your treasures if you happen to die during the mission.

Minecraft Earth will allow stealing but there’s a catch

Also, the reward for each quest are shared with the entire party, so there’s no need to fear anyone who might troll the party and kill them for the loot. However, “Minecraft Earth” is allowing players to steal from others, although you’d have to invite that person to a session for them to grief you. So be careful playing with strangers.

As for when the game will be released, Microsoft has yet to announce anything. But “Minecraft Earth” has been confirmed to come out this year, so a November or December release is the most realistic expectations to set at the moment.
