Anthropic Nears $15 Billion Credit Deal Ahead of IPO

Anthropic Nears $15 Billion Credit Deal Ahead of IPO.

Anthropic is reportedly close to finalizing an expansion of its revolving credit facility to $15 billion, strengthening the artificial intelligence company’s financial position ahead of its widely anticipated initial public offering.

Morgan Stanley is leading the credit facility process, Bloomberg News reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter. Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase and Citigroup are also expected to hold prominent positions in the financing arrangement.

The four Wall Street banks are also leading Anthropic’s planned IPO, underscoring their central role as the Claude chatbot developer prepares for a potential public-market debut.

Barclays and Wells Fargo are expected to secure key positions in the loan syndicate. Bank of America, Deutsche Bank, Royal Bank of Canada and UBS are also reportedly among the financial institutions with significant roles in the facility.

The proposed $15 billion credit line would exceed Anthropic’s earlier target of approximately $10 billion. It would also represent a substantial increase from the $2.5 billion, five-year credit facility the AI company secured last year.

The larger financing package could provide Anthropic with additional liquidity as it invests heavily in artificial intelligence infrastructure, computing capacity and expansion while preparing for an IPO.

Anthropic is reportedly seeking to raise an amount comparable to, or potentially greater than, SpaceX through its initial public offering. Such a deal could make the Claude maker one of the most closely watched technology listings as investor interest in generative AI companies remains strong.

The company has also experienced rapid revenue growth amid rising demand for Claude and its enterprise AI services. Anthropic’s annualized revenue has surpassed $65 billion, according to an earlier Bloomberg report.

The expanded credit facility marks another step in Anthropic’s preparations for the public markets, although the final structure and participating banks could still change before the financing agreement is completed.

Neither the reported $15 billion facility nor the potential size and timing of Anthropic’s IPO should be considered final until the company and its banking partners complete their arrangements.
