As Russia continues to wage war on Ukraine, many countries have joined to oppose the Kremlin’s attempt to control the democratic nation. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton took a swipe at Republicans for their constant praise of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s tactics to invade Ukraine.

Speaking on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” without mentioning Republicans, or former President Donald Trump by name, Clinton said that those who have constantly praised or shown support towards Putin must be called out. Clinton cited the praises by Trump and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo of Putin that has been broadcasted on Russian state television.

“I do think it’s important to support both the Ukrainian military and then depending upon what happens and how quickly events unfold, supporting those who are putting up resistance,” said Clinton.

“I want to make another point which is that we have to also make sure that within our own country we are calling out those people who are giving aid and comfort to Vladimir Putin, who are talking about what a genius he is, what a smart move it is, who are unfortunately being broadcast by Russian media, not only inside Russia but in Europe to demonstrate the division within our own country,” said Clinton.

Host Joe Scarborough agreed with the former lawmaker, saying that the Ukrainian people must feel “distressed” upon seeing pro-Trump political figures and right-wing personalities praise Putin. Clinton then said that what’s left of the Republican Party” should not only publicly condemn the conflict Putin has waged on Ukraine, but also those within the country who have expressed support for the Kremlin.

The former 2016 presidential candidate previously took another shot at Trump, who reiterated his old claim that the Clinton campaign spied on him during his campaign in 2016 and during his presidency, citing the Durham report. The claims in the report are untrue.

Clinton shared a piece by Vanity Fair debunking the Durham report, then said that the former president, along with right-wing media outlet Fox News, is trying to fabricate a scandal to distract the public from Trump’s legal losses.

“The more misdeeds are exposed, the more they lie,” said Clinton.
