Postdoctoral researcher in flood forecasting, University of Reading
Dr Linda Speight is a hydrometeorologist working at the University of Reading. Her recent research has included a policy and practice review of the NERC Flooding from Intense Rainfall (FFIR) programme, bringing together the technical developments and identifying recommendations for changes in policy, practice and further research. She is acting lead of the NERC/DFID funded FATHUM project which aims to enable the successful implementation and scale-up of Forecast-based Financing locally, nationally and internationally. Prior to this she was an operational flood forecaster at SEPA where she led the surface water flood forecasting pilot project for Glasgow. She has a PhD from Newcastle University which looked at understanding dependencies in flood risk modelling, particularly for the insurance industry.
