President Donald Trump’s latest health examination has sparked renewed public interest after White House officials described the results as exceptionally positive despite growing questions about the 79-year-old leader’s physical condition.
Speaking during a White House briefing on Tuesday, Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), dismissed concerns surrounding Trump’s recent medical evaluation. Oz characterized the president’s third physical examination in just over a year as a standard checkup and praised the outcome as “spectacular.”
The discussion followed Trump’s visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center last week. Public attention intensified after observers noticed swollen ankles, bruising on his hands, and several moments during public appearances in which he appeared tired. The limited information initially released about the examination led to speculation among medical experts and political observers.
The White House later published a three-page medical memo from Trump’s physician, Dr. Sean Barbabella. According to the report, the president experienced slight swelling in his lower legs and minor hand bruising, both of which were described as benign. The memo concluded that Trump remains in “excellent” overall health.
While Barbabella has not publicly answered questions regarding the examination, some healthcare analysts have expressed curiosity about the frequency of Trump’s medical visits, the heart imaging procedures conducted during the evaluation, and the source of the bruising on his hands.
During the briefing, Oz stepped in for White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who is currently on maternity leave. When asked why Trump had undergone multiple medical examinations, Oz responded humorously, saying the president likely enjoys receiving positive health reports.
Trump, who will celebrate his 80th birthday on June 14, has frequently highlighted his physical fitness in comparison to former President Joe Biden. Biden left office at age 82 after facing ongoing scrutiny regarding his health and ability to serve.
Drawing from his own interactions with Trump, Oz emphasized the president’s stamina, energy levels, and mental sharpness. He stated that Trump’s demanding schedule and continued activity reflect strong physical and cognitive health, reinforcing the administration’s position that the president remains fit for office.
