Russian attacks across several regions of Ukraine killed at least six people and injured dozens overnight, as rescue teams continued emergency operations on Thursday, according to Ukrainian authorities.

In the eastern city of Balakliia, emergency responders worked to extinguish fires and remove debris after Russian strikes hit residential areas. Officials said three people were killed in the overnight assault, with rescue efforts continuing to assess the full extent of the damage.

In Ukraine’s northern Sumy region, authorities reported that three more people were killed and at least 19 others were injured in separate Russian attacks targeting local settlements. The regional administration said emergency services were providing assistance to victims and evaluating the destruction caused by the strikes.

The city of Sumy also came under attack, with Ukrainian police reporting that guided aerial bombs struck the area. The assault left 12 people wounded, adding to the growing civilian toll in the region.

Further south, officials in the Kherson region said a Russian drone attack targeted a van, injuring six people. Local authorities said the victims received medical treatment while investigators documented the incident.

The latest wave of attacks comes as fighting continues across multiple frontlines in the more than three-year war between Russia and Ukraine. Ukrainian emergency services remain engaged in rescue operations, while local officials continue to assess damage to homes and infrastructure.

Russia and Ukraine have repeatedly accused each other of launching attacks that harm civilians. Moscow and Kyiv both deny deliberately targeting civilian populations during the conflict, which began after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The overnight strikes underscore the persistent security challenges facing communities across Ukraine, particularly in regions close to active combat zones. Authorities continue to urge residents in affected areas to follow safety advisories as emergency crews respond to the aftermath of the attacks.
