Russian drone attacks targeted two major Ukrainian cities late Monday and into the early hours of Tuesday, leaving more than 20 people injured and causing widespread property damage. The strikes hit Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, and the southeastern city of Dnipro in what Ukrainian officials described as another wave of aerial aggression.

In Kharkiv, the first drone detonated near a residential high-rise late Monday evening, wounding seven people while shattering windows and igniting several parked vehicles. A second strike followed overnight, hitting a road between buildings and injuring four more residents. Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed both incidents via Telegram. Situated just 30 kilometers from the Russian border, Kharkiv has been a persistent target since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022, having successfully repelled early ground advances at the start of the war.

Further southeast, the city of Dnipro suffered significant damage as drones struck residential areas, injuring at least 10 people including a 12-year-old child. Regional Governor Oleksandr Ganzha shared images on social media revealing rubble-strewn streets and heavily damaged building exteriors. City Mayor Borys Filatov confirmed that no fewer than eight high-rise apartment buildings sustained damage during the assault.

Ukraine's air force reported that Russia launched a total of 137 drones during the overnight campaign, with 122 successfully intercepted or neutralized by Ukrainian defense systems. Despite the high interception rate, the attacks that broke through still caused considerable harm to civilian infrastructure and communities.

These latest strikes underscore the ongoing threat Russian aerial attacks pose to Ukrainian civilians, particularly in densely populated urban areas. International observers continue to monitor the escalating pattern of drone warfare as the conflict shows no immediate signs of de-escalation.
