Xiaomi’s sub-brand Poco had a successful smartphone launch in 2018 with the Pocophone F1. Its market appeal was still very apparent last year as fans around the world were waiting throughout 2019 for the announcement of Pocophone F2.
Xiaomi and Poco remained silent about the Pocophone F2, but the rumor mill was not. Despite the scarce updates about the next Poco device, there have been speculations about the improved specs and design it could have. One of the theories was focused on the screen design as it was speculated that the Pocophone F2 might sport some enhancements in the display department.
Pocophone F2 specs rumors: Device to support improved screen design?
Pocophone F2’s predecessor was very popular because, for an affordable price tag, it gave the public access to Qualcomm’s most powerful Snapdragon SoC platform at the time. However, to keep its retail price still in the mid-range, the device did not have the other premium features such as top-of-the-line cameras, metal or glass bodywork, and very thin screen bezels.
For Pocophone F2 to catch the attention of the public again, Xiaomi and Poco need to apply some remarkable upgrades, and some reports suggest it could be focused on the screen aspect. There are speculations that the next device might finally switch from an LCD to an OLED panel. The latter is a manufacturer’s common choice for several reasons, such as it offers better color and brightness quality.
Android Headlines speculated that if the Pocophone F2 would end up having an OLED display, Xiaomi might also decide to improve its screen resolution by making it Full HD+. Whenever screen design improvements are being discussed, the notch has become one aspect to be considered. To offer a more pleasing device, Xiaomi is also rumored to either make the Pocophone F2 notch smaller than its predecessor.
Pocophone F2 release date: Is the device still underway?
While these are just some of the many possibilities, they remain mere Pocophone F2 speculations. The truth is, Xiaomi or Poco officials have not even recognized the device and mentioned whether it is already in development. On the other hand, they have also not announced the cancellation of the smartphone line, making fans continue to hope for a new device this year.
