Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is running against Republican incumbent Donald Trump with the hopes of winning the presidency. As many Americans cast their votes today, one of the places that are the first to reveal their results of the votes, Biden has secured five votes from a small New Hampshire township.
Biden has secured all five votes that were cast in Dixville Notch, a township in New Hampshire. Dixville Notch is one of the places in the US that has revealed its results from the votes on election day itself. The votes were cast minutes before midnight, and are one of the first votes cast and counted on election day itself. All of its eligible voters traditionally assembled in The Balsams Resort to cast their ballots when the polls opened by midnight. The early vote counts in this township have caught the attention of election observers and the press to look out for what might happen on election day.
However, despite the hype that comes from their early revelation of results, it does not always accurately predict who would win the elections. One example was in the 2016 elections when the votes from the township were cast in favor of Hillary Clinton, but Trump would end up winning the electoral college.
Aside from Dixville Notch, Millsfield has also revealed its results, showing Trump winning Millsfield over Biden by 16 to five. Voters in Hart’s Location were hindered by the pandemic this year, but all 48 of its eligible voters can vote during daylight hours instead of the usual midnight votes.
Many have now wondered what the respective candidates would be doing on Election Day, as both Biden and Trump have already cast their votes early. Biden today went to his childhood hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania, where he spoke to his supporters that were present and hoping for his victory. The Democratic candidate dropped by his childhood home in Green Ridge.
Inside, Biden signed a wall in the living room, “From this house to the White House with the grace of God. Joe Biden 11-3-2020.” Pennsylvania is a key state that Biden needs to win over in order to secure the presidency.
