The past few months have seen a surge in donations for Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his campaign. With only a day left until the elections on Tuesday, November 3, Biden has now released the names of elite fundraisers.
Over the weekend, the Biden campaign disclosed its list of fundraisers. The list found that over 800 individuals and couples were able to raise at least $100,000 for the campaign. Among the backers for Biden include former Obama administration ambassadors as well as producers and executives from the finance industry. The high-profile names that were released shed light on how Biden managed to outraise Donald Trump in the last few months of campaigning.
As of now, the former vice president is well on his way to becoming the first presidential candidate to raise up to $1 billion from donors in a span of two years. This disclosure of backers and fundraisers is a result of campaign finance watchdogs urging presidential campaigns to become more transparent in information regarding their fundraisers. So far, Trump and his campaign have yet to disclose their list of fundraisers and bundlers.
The release over the weekend is also the first time Biden has updated his list of fundraisers since December of 2019. In the list, Biden also revealed the names, home cities, and states of every backer but did not specify occupations. The list also found that one-fourth of Biden’s bundlers come from California, followed by bundlers based in New York, and in Washington DC. The list also includes Biden’s former presidential rivals.
Meanwhile, Biden’s wife, former second lady Dr. Jill Biden, their daughter Ashley and their grandchildren have already been seen on the campaign trail as of late. However, his surviving son, Hunter Biden, was nowhere to be found. Hunter was last seen in a videotaped message in support of his father during the Democratic convention a few months back and has not been by anyone since.
This has led to speculation as to where Biden’s only son is, with some sightings ranging from Mexico to the Caribbean, or from Delaware to Brazil. Hunter, his third wife Melissa Cohen, and their daughter were recently seen in a rented home in Hollywood Hills. However, neighbors have revealed that they have not seen the family at the property for weeks.
