A significant event during the week took place as President Donald Trump signed the much-negotiated USMCA agreement into law. First Daughter and senior White House advisor Ivanka Trump was also present during the ceremony, and she stood out with her bright red outfit.
Perhaps it was because red was the color of the Republicans, but Express reports that Ivanka stood out when she attended the USMCA signing ceremony in a bright red Carolina Herrera dress coat. She paired the coat dress with a pair of oversized sunglasses, a thin scarf, thick black tights and leather patent shoes due to the cold weather. Ivanka attended the ceremony alongside her husband Jared Kushner, who also serves as a White House advisor to Donald Trump. She was also spotted wearing her engagement ring: A 5.22 carat, D Flawless, cushion cut ring that Kushner had given her.
This would be one of the times that Ivanka is seen wearing her ring as she tends to mostly be seen without it. According to expert Tobias Kormind, he told Express that the First Daughter probably felt that when it comes to attending international political events and functions, wearing large and flashy pieces of jewelry may send out the wrong message. “Which can be inappropriate when she is tackling socially sensitive issues such as women’s rights and inequality.”
The USMCA signing ceremony would mark the second time Ivanka wears her red coat dress. The first time she wore it was in October during a visit to the local synagogue with the family.
Ivanka is set to host the White House Summit, where her father is expected to attend. They would be tackling the issue of human trafficking, which is something the President has acknowledged several times. However, despite the summit tackling a major issue, The Washington Post reports that the major anti-human trafficking groups, advocates, and associations are boycotting the event.
Among the groups that will be boycotting the White House Summit is Polaris, a group that runs the human trafficking hotline and the leading group of Freedom Network USA, which is the country’s biggest anti-trafficking coalition. They stated that they will not be attending the event due to the fact that despite Trump constantly invoking human trafficking, his administration is endangering a good portion of the victims of such concern which are immigrants.
