As senior advisor to the president, Ivanka Trump holds a key position within Donald Trump’s inner political circle. This explains why she is usually present in high-profile events such as the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the CES 2020, and the Doha Forum in December 2019.
But there might be another reason why Ivanka Trump is increasingly visible these days. With the approaching 2020 presidential campaign coming up, there are speculations that Donald Trump’s daughter might “put herself forward for the job,” according to Express.
Both Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, are full time senior political advisors to President Trump. While it’s not unusual for her to attend key events and speak on political issues on behalf of the Trump administration, the publication noted that Ivanka said that being the president was “a job she would one day want” even before her father assumed the Oval Office.
The topic of Ivanka gunning for the presidency is actually covered in “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House” by journalist Michael Wolff published in 2018. “The first woman president, Ivanka entertained, would not be Hillary Clinton; it would be Ivanka Trump,” Wolff wrote.
According to Express, there are a few things that a presidential hopeful must have in order to qualify as a candidate. One needs to be at least 35 years old, must have lived in the U.S. for at least 14 years and must also be a natural-born U.S. citizen.
Ivanka Trump passes all those hurdles. Age-wise, she was born on October 30, 1981, and would already turn 38 years old this year so the age requirement is not an issue for her.
As the daughter of the Czechoslovakia-born Ivana Trump, Ivanka is half Czech with Scottish, German and Austrian ancestry. However, she was born in New York City making her a natural-born U.S. citizen. Having lived most of her life in the States, the 14-year residency requirement is not a problem either.
An expert likewise noted that based on Ivanka’s body language, she might be getting tips from her father. “The direct, amused eye-gaze and the more relaxed gesticulation and communication with her audience suggest Ivanka is learning to relax and use humor in her delivery,” body language expert Judi James told Express.
The publication also added that her imitation of Donald Trump’s body language might suggest that she is eyeing for a more important political role. “This is much more in the style of her father than her step-mother now, with the comic, palms-up shrug and the rounded, pursed lips both being signature gestures of the president,” James said.
