Iran is ready to sign a new nuclear agreement with U.S. President Donald Trump—if all economic sanctions are lifted immediately, according to an NBC News report citing a senior adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Ali Shamkhani, a top political and nuclear adviser, stated that Tehran would permanently renounce nuclear weapons, dismantle its stockpile of highly enriched uranium, restrict enrichment to peaceful, civilian levels, and grant full access to international nuclear inspectors—on the condition that Washington removes all sanctions without delay.

When asked directly if Iran would agree to such terms today, Shamkhani said, “Yes,” marking the most explicit endorsement of a potential deal from Khamenei’s inner circle to date. His comments underscore Iran’s openness to a renewed diplomatic path, even with Trump, whose 2018 withdrawal from the original JCPOA deal triggered a sharp escalation in tensions.

Shamkhani criticized Trump’s inconsistent rhetoric, noting, “He talks about the olive branch, which we have not seen. It’s all barbed wire.” Despite ongoing U.S.-Iran nuclear negotiations, Iranian officials say key issues remain unresolved. Still, American sources have recently described the tone of talks as “positive.”

Shamkhani also warned that Israeli lobbying in Washington poses a significant risk to any potential agreement but suggested that a shift in the U.S. approach could lead to meaningful progress.

This statement comes amid renewed focus on Middle East diplomacy, nuclear nonproliferation, and sanctions relief, as the global community watches for signs of movement in one of the world’s most critical geopolitical standoffs.
