There’s still no news what Rockstar and Take-Two are planning for “GTA 6” leaving fans wondering when the sixth entry will come out. The studios have always been quite secretive with its titles and only drop huge announcements once the developers have made considerable progress.
The latest news about Take-Two involves their FY2019 earnings call where CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed massive plans brewing within the studio. While Zelnick didn’t reveal any information about “GTA 6,” there’s no doubt that big wigs within the company have at least broach the subject.
After all, the franchise is one of Take-Two’s most lucrative creation, providing the company with huge financial boosts throughout the series’ cycle. The CEO also said that apart from new IPs, they’re also working on sequels from its biggest franchises. Unfortunately, nothing substantial has come up involving “GTA 6” although the web is rife with rumors about what to expect from the title.
The most recent of this is claiming that the sixth installment will be set on three different locations: Vice City, Liberty City, and Los Santos. The rumor is in line with other whispers saying that “GTA 6” will have multiple locations, with some even claiming that it will involve the entirety of the United States.
Regarding its release date, the title won’t be seeing daylight soon even though Rockstar has finally pushed out the online version of “Red Dead Redemption 2.” Part of the reason why the studio is taking their time with “GTA 6” is due to financial concerns. Should the sixth entry get a 2019 release date, it will undoubtedly compete with “Red Dead Redemption 2 Online,” taking a lot of wind from the title’s sails.
Another reason for the delay is due to politics. Rockstar head writer Dan Houser previously said that one of the foundations of “GTA 6” is the satirizing of reality. But with how the current reality still stands and the degenerating political climate in several countries, it’s difficult to take advantage of this strength. There’s also the fact that people are becoming more sensitive nowadays.
Indeed, “Red Dead Redemption 2” got a taste of this when a player dragged and killed a suffragette inside the game. After posting the video online, it quickly went viral with some news outlet expressing their distaste at the brutality of the game. “GTA 6” could see a similar treatment, especially since the franchise has been built on crime and violence.
