Nowadays, many game studios are opting to release their products even if production on them has not yet been polished. This results in clunky, bug-filled games that usually get heavily criticized to the point that sales become abysmal. But the studio behind “GTA 6” isn’t one of these companies.
Rockstar Games has always valued quality when they release a product and their previous games are a testament to that. This is why gamers shouldn’t expect “GTA 6” to launch anytime soon since the people responsible for its inception are somewhat perfectionists.
One would only need to look at the graphics, gameplay, and overall feel of Rockstar Games’ upcoming “Red Dead Redemption 2” to understand that the company wants their products to be perfect. And given that the studio is releasing one game every two or three years, “GTA 6” will most likely be finished around 2020 or 2021 at the earliest, Business Insider reported.
There’s also the matter of sales. Rockstar Games understands that gamers – even the hardcore ones – only have so much time they can spare for a game. And releasing “GTA 6” so closely to “Red Dead Redemption 2” will potentially hurt the sales performances of both.
Moreover, “GTA 5” is still bringing in profit for the company even after it was released five years ago. That is not very common in the gaming industry where the popularity of a product diminishes over time, replaced by far superior games created by other studios. Why push out “GTA 6” when the previous installment is still raking in more money, right?
It’s reported that “GTA 5” is about to sell 100 million copies. It’s so popular that even after all this time, Rockstar Games is still creating more content for its fan base. This, combined with all the other factors mentioned above, is strong evidence that “GTA 6” will not be released any time soon.
However, it seems that Rockstar Games is already working on the production of “GTA 6.” As rumors would have it, the sixth installment is being developed under the codename “Project Americas.” The reason for the name is because players will reportedly have the option of traveling outside the United States and to South America in order to finish certain missions.
