As Rockstar Games is set to push out the next installment of "Red Dead Redemption," fans are now asking whether or not they’re working on "GTA 6." And with the popular game’s fifth anniversary about to be celebrated in September, rumors are starting to go around the gaming community.
To start, the recent whispers circulating on the web saying that "GTA 6" is slated for release next year is entirely a hoax. Rockstar has already denied this claim and said that it was the work of a troll using mods from the PC, PS3, or Xbox One, Tech Radar reported.
The message started popping up on several consoles, which players took screenshots of and posted on forums asking if it was legitimate or not. This, in turn, created a whirlwind of exchanges that blew up over the web.
Fortunately, Rockstar immediately shot it down along with the hopes of gamers that the message cause. So when exactly is "GTA 6" coming out? Well, as said earlier, "Red Dead Redemption" is only being pushed out the door so it’s likely that the developers are still working on its next project.
And speaking of projects, "GTA 6" is reportedly currently being developed under the codename Project Americas. According to The Know, which claimed that their information came from a source from Rockstar, the name refers to the fact that the next installment will allow players to travel from the United States to South America during missions.
Moreover, the location is likely going to take players back to Vice City – the game’s version of Miami. And while "GTA 6" will allow travel between the U.S. and South America, the majority of missions will revolve around Vice City.
This is all according to the source of The Know, which requested to remain anonymous. As for when "GTA 6" will be released, Rockstar is tight-lipped about that as well.
The gaming studio has always been secretive about its undertakings as it wants its developers to focus on making their products as immersive and enjoyable as possible. However, judging by how they handled releases in the past, fans can expect "GTA 6" to drop sometime around 2021 at the earliest.
It can be recalled that three years after "GTA" online was launched, "Red Dead Redemption 2" will now follow. And since "Red Dead Redemption 2" is going to hit the market in October, it’s safe to say that Rock Star will develop "GTA 6" for three years as well.
