It was recently reported that there is a chance for the AI character Chappie from the film with the same name to be added to “Apex Legends” and it went viral. As a result, fans of both the game and sci-fi movies are clamoring to have their own favorite mechs featured. Among the most prominent to rise out of the sea of suggestions is the robot from the Netflix series, “Lost in Space.”
As Comic Book reports, a lot of “Apex Legends” players are asking for Respawn to add a skin for Pathfinder that would make him look like the robot in “Lost in Space.” This comes on the heels of the story about how the director of “Chappie” and the developers were chatting about the subject. Who wouldn’t want to join in on the conversation to have their own sci-fi character in the game?
On the matter of the “Lost in Space” robot, however, Respawn would have to jump through a lot of hoops in order to actually get the rights to add it to the game. Unlike with “Chappie,” where the director himself is interested in the collaboration, no one behind the new series has made contact. One can only hope that there will be enough interest in this matter for the skin to become available in “Apex Legends.”
Then again, this could be nothing more than an example of the internet having fun with a discussion that is currently gaining steam. The prospect of seeing a huge sci-fi character from a movie being featured in “Apex Legends” is already momentous. There’s no real need to push it by adding another iconic robot to the game.
It would certainly be nice if they could, but “Apex Legends” is already popular enough as it is. If Respawn wants to maintain player engagement, though, it will need to churn out more contents.
