Dr Rosemary Kennedy F.R.A.I.A is Director of the Subtropical Cities Consultancy. She is Adjunct Professor of Architecture at QUT where she was Director of the former Centre for Subtropical Design and Research Leader in the School of Design. Rosemary established the Subtropical Cities International Conference series as a forum for sharing innovative trans-disciplinary research and practice in the area of climate-responsiveness and liveability in subtropical and tropical regions globally, with a particular focus on increasing density, demographic change and climate change. She has published more than 60 journal articles, book chapters, conference papers and proceedings, including the influential publication Subtropical Design in South East Queensland, a Handbook for Planners, Developers and Decision Makers. She is also an award-winning architect and was the Queensland Director of the AIA’s National Awards program in 2008 and has served on national design juries. She has extensive design review experience for major urban development proposals and urban policies in Australia and overseas.
