Academic Foundation Doctor, University of Cambridge
I am an Academic Foundation Doctor in Psychiatry at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. I completed my medical degree at the School of Clinical Medicine, University of Cambridge, and my PhD with Professor Angela Roberts at the University of Cambridge.
My research focuses on the neurobiology of emotion and its regulation. In particular, I am interested in how regions of the prefrontal cortex regulate emotional and physiological states. Using techniques in behavioural psychology, neuropharmacology and cardiovascular monitoring I want to understand how dysfunction in the prefrontal cortex contributes to the core aspects of depression: enhanced 'negative' emotion (low mood and anxiety) and reduced 'positive' emotion (anhedonia).
