Chancellor's Postdoctoral Research Fellow, University of Technology Sydney
I research the relationship between private property and sovereign territory in the history of international law, with a focus on natural resources. I have held positions as Early Career Academic Fellow at Melbourne Law School, Lecturer at the University of Glasgow, and junior faculty member with the Institute of Global Law and Policy at Harvard Law School. My doctoral thesis on Nauru and the history of international law was awarded the University of Melbourne Chancellor’s Prize, and my book, International Status in the Shadow of Empire: Nauru and the Histories of International Law is in publication with Cambridge University Press (June 2020). My current research deals with the international regulation of resource exploitation beyond sovereign territory, including in the international seabed and outer space.
