Crystal is working on her PhD in the Department of Communication, Media and Film at the University of Calgary, where she is exploring the stakes of letting algorithms and artificial intelligence decide what we say. Her research extends from a decade-long professional practice in strategic corporate communication in which she observed individuals and workplaces grow increasingly reliant on computer-mediated communication. Out of these many experiences, she developed a fierce commitment to researching and teaching human-centred, curious, creative, and empathetic communication.
