The U.S. military has completed its 11th consecutive day of airstrikes against Iran, intensifying efforts to weaken Tehran’s military capabilities and protect one of the world’s most strategically important shipping routes.
According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the latest strikes targeted a range of Iranian military assets, including operations centers, maritime capabilities, aircraft hangars, drone storage facilities, and logistics infrastructure supporting military operations. The campaign is aimed at further reducing Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global energy supplies and international trade.
CENTCOM said the military operations are designed to disrupt Iran’s capacity to launch attacks that could endanger commercial vessels navigating the narrow waterway connecting the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman. The U.S. military emphasized that maintaining freedom of navigation remains a key objective of the ongoing campaign.
The command also accused Iran of carrying out attacks against more than 30 commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. According to CENTCOM, those incidents have put hundreds of civilian mariners at risk while increasing instability in one of the world's busiest maritime corridors.
"The unwarranted attacks have endangered hundreds of innocent mariners and undermined freedom of navigation," CENTCOM said in its statement.
The Strait of Hormuz handles a significant share of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas shipments, making security in the region a major concern for global markets and governments. Any disruption to maritime traffic through the passage can have far-reaching implications for energy prices, international trade, and regional stability.
The latest U.S. strikes underscore Washington's continued military pressure on Iran as tensions remain elevated across the Middle East. With both sides continuing military operations, investors and shipping companies are closely monitoring developments for any signs of further escalation that could threaten commercial shipping and global energy supplies.
