The Top Five Highest Paid Legal Jobs

There are many great opportunities for the young today that they are almost spoilt for choice. However, most of these careers require degrees and further education, as well as perseverance to get into the occupation as jobs are highly competitive nowadays.

Many parents would recommend going into law, and it is not difficult to see why. If you plan on starting a career in law, here are five of the highest paid legal jobs for you to consider.

Trial Lawyers

These lawyers are among the highest paid in the legal profession, and although not all attorneys will earn this much, it is still a lucrative career.

The average salary for a lawyer was $133,470 in 2014, but if you work as a litigator, you could be earning far more. That is a huge amount of money and is up there with dentists as one of the highest paid jobs. You will have to undergo university and many years of training, though.

Tax Attorneys

A tax lawyer is always in demand as many people need these services, especially if starting their own business. They are there to help sort out tax issues and even contribute to contract negotiations.

In 2016, the average pay for a tax attorney was $99,000, however, some who work for big companies can get as much as $189,000 per year.

Employment Lawyers

Employment lawyers are a type of arbiter between the employees and the employer. They can have a critical role in the company, ensuring that both sides are represented fairly.

Their pay can be quite high; again this can depend on the size of the company and the number of lawyers. The average salary in 2016 was $70,000, but it can reach over $90,000 in some cases.

Chief Legal Officers

Also known as general counsels, they typically head a law department in the larger organizations. Because of this important role and their work trying to keep the big companies out of trouble, they can get well compensated.

It is also a role that has seen a big increase in women and their pay is rising as a result. They often have a salary and other bonuses which in the past has earned one CLO nearly $6.5 million.

Judges

Presiding over court proceedings, judges are one of the mainstays of the legal system. If you rise to a high-ranking judge, you can receive a substantial salary.

As well as the regular pay, which averages at $153,000, judges also get many benefits including expense accounts and retirement plans. This in total means that they can get a relatively high income.

Of course, not all lawyers attain such a high salary, but they do get a good living from the job. A Long Beach DUI lawyer can achieve a good wage, looking after people with DUI charges.

Not all law jobs are glamorous, but they perform an important role in society. Moreover, if you should ever need one to represent you, then you will see where all that hard work and study goes.
