The Sony Xperia 5 Plus was expected to be launched at the Mobile World Congress this year. Unfortunately, the event was canceled over fears of the novel coronavirus in Wuhan affecting a lot of planned launches of a handful of gadgets.
Fortunately, Sony is apparently bent on launching its latest flagship with or without the MWC 2020. In fact, the new model will be unveiled very soon based on the company’s social media post.
Sony teases launch of new Xperia phone
It appears that Sony plans to launch its latest flagships, rumored to be called the Xperia 5 Plus, in a live event based on the company’s Instagram and Twitter posts. The launch date is set on Monday, February 24, according to Phone Arena.

Sony Xperia 5 Plus specs
The Sony Xperia 5 Plus will be equipped with a Qualcomm SM8150 Snapdragon 855 (7 nm) chip, according to GSM Arena. It will have 6GB of RAM and internal storage of 128GB and also supports a microSD card for additional storage.
Xperia 5 Plus camera
The phone will have a quad-lens rear camera assembly. It has a 64MP main lens, a 12MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom, a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP ToF lens for 3D/depth sensing. The camera can shoot 2160p videos @24/30/60fps HDR, 1080p@60fps, and 1080p@30fps.
It will only have one lens for its front-facing camera. It will have an 8MP lens capable of shooting 1080p videos at 30fps.
Display, battery, and 5G support
The Sony Xperia 5 Plus will feature a 6.6-inch OLED capacitive touchscreen display. It will have a resolution of 1080 x 2520 pixels and a 21:9 aspect ratio and will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6.
Just like the flagships of other brands, the Sony Xperia 5 Plus will support 5G connectivity. It will have a 4000 mAh Li-Ion battery that supports 18W fast battery charging via USB power delivery 2.0. Available colors for the upcoming phone are Blue, Red, Black, and Grey.
