NEW YORK, Jan. 08, 2018 -- Sichenzia Ross Ference Kesner LLP (SRFK LLP) today announced the addition of a renowned and experienced Trusts and Estates (T&E) practice group, featuring Robert Birnbaum, Todd Manister and Jodi Zimmerman, as well as paralegal, Jodie Shapiro-Shahar.
The formation of this group signals SRFK LLP’s continued expansion into an area of law focused on the preservation of family wealth for generations, and the protection of client assets through innovative planning. As experts in the field, Robert and Jodi lecture on trusts and estates to professional organizations, as well as the general public. The T&E team’s experience, knowledge and discerning nature ensure that its members will be trusted advisors to their clients and their families and organizations.
Robert Birnbaum has 50-plus years of experience guiding individuals and fiduciaries through the planning and administration of complex wills, trusts and estates. Over the course of his career, Robert has advised many high-profile and high net worth clients on matters of wealth preservation, charitable activities and family foundations. Robert comes to SRFK LLP after a decades-long career at Kantor, Davidoff, Mandelker, Twomey, Gallanty & Kokhba, P.C., where he was prized by clients for the breadth and depth of his knowledge and experience. He received his B.A. from New York University, Phi Beta Kappa, and his LL.B. from Harvard Law School.
Todd Manister will concentrate on Surrogate’s Court litigation handling all aspects of trusts, estates and guardianships, including trials and appeals. His experience in proceedings of Surrogate’s Court litigation is a unique feature of SRFK LLP’s T&E practice group. Todd litigates difficult will and trust contests including breach of fiduciary duty, disputed creditor claims, contested accounting, fraudulent transfers, partition actions and spousal right of election. This invaluable experience with the Surrogate’s Court perfectly complements the expertise of the other members of the T&E team. Todd received his B.A. in Political Science from Syracuse University and his J.D. from American University’s Washington College of Law.
Jodi Zimmerman focuses on Estate Planning and Elder Law, including the preparation of wills, various types of trusts, advance directives, probate and administration petitions and guardianships. A member of the New York State Bar Association and the Nassau County Bar Association’s Trusts and Estates Committee and Elder Law Committee, Jodi offers her clients more than 20 years of counseling and business experience and demonstrates a deep commitment to the human element of the law. This sensitivity is essential as she navigates the delicate nature of probates and administrations and tackles difficult guardianship cases in which vulnerable individuals need trustworthy advocates. Jodi earned her B.A. in Humanities from Florida Atlantic University and her J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law.
Jodie Shapiro-Shahar has worked alongside Robert Birnbaum for over 30 years, which has afforded her the valuable experience of handling all aspects of estate and trust administration.
