Toronto, May 10, 2017 -- Today, Polaroid announced it is expanding the brand’s 3D pen lineup in the US and Canada with the addition of the Polaroid Design 3D pen, an advanced 3D drawing pen that specifically caters to professionals. Created with artists, designers, engineers and other professionals in mind, the Polaroid Design 3D pen is now available for pre-order through Indiegogo. The pen joins the Polaroid Draw 3D pen, which was initially announced at CES in January and designed for at-home users and families.

“We were excited by the reactions we received at CES for the Polaroid Draw 3D pen. Giving everyday consumers the tools they need to share their creativity has always been at the center of the Polaroid brand,” said Scott W. Hardy, President and CEO of Polaroid. “Because of the positive reception the Polaroid Draw 3D pen received, we decided to take a look at other segments of the market that were in need of quality 3D products at the right price point. We then recognized a need for an advanced 3D pen model geared toward design and engineering professionals. Whether they’re looking to create artwork, prototypes, jewelry or models, the Polaroid Design 3D pen will help these professionals bring their concepts to life.”
With an elegant ergonomic design, the Polaroid Design 3D pen includes a multitude of unique features that make it one of the most advanced 3D printing pens on the market. Most notably, the pen includes an internal cooling fan to prevent it from jamming during prolonged use as well as six preset speed settings for greater precision and control while creating designs. Users can also control the pen’s temperature setting, allowing them to adjust the heat and optimize the pen for different materials being used. The Polaroid Design 3D pen allows users the freedom to create structures, designs or prototypes using a vast array of materials, including standard PLA filament in neon, wood and metal, and to mix the elements into one complete design. All settings are displayed on an easy-to-read high-resolution OLED LCD screen. Additionally, the auto shut-off feature puts the pen into standby mode after four minutes of inactive use, ejecting the filament before going into full sleep mode.
The Polaroid Design professional 3D pen is offered by Coretech Printer Group Co. Ltd., an authorized Polaroid licensee. The Polaroid Design 3D pen is available in matte black, erbium grey, slate grey and Tuscan sun gold, and can be pre-ordered on Indiegogo with early bird special pen bundles starting at $130. The pen is slated to ship to consumers this July and will come with access to the Polaroid 3D gallery for design ideas and exclusive content.
