GenXComm Inc. was founded in 2016 to commercialize years of research and development out of the University of Texas at Austin in the area of self-interference cancellation. GenXComm is bringing to market reliable, scalable full duplex or the ability to simultaneously transmit and receive in the same channel. This new powerful technology doubles the usage of the world’s available frequency spectrum.
The GenXComm architecture for single frequency full duplex is capable of reliably supporting widebands, multi-antenna systems and will scale to a size, weight and power required for a host of wireless applications. “The spectral efficiency that comes from truly symmetric communications in the same frequency is just the beginning of benefits provided by true full duplex operations. Reduced latency which comes from a system that can listen while it talks in the same channel will enable benefits never seen before in communications systems,” said Sriram Vishwanath, President of GenXComm.
"GenXComm is offering a major advance — true full duplex — in our building out of the gigabit mobile video artificial intelligence augmented reality Internet of things,” said Bob Metcalfe, Internet pioneer, Ethernet inventor, 3Com founder, and now Professor of Innovation at UT Austin. “Not only is there something like a doubling of spectral efficiency in true full duplex, but a significant reduction in latency. The early uses are likely to be in wireless backhaul, but with integration, full duplex will make its way out to the endpoints."
The market opportunity for GenXComm even prior to the inclusion of full duplex transmission in standards is significant and with a frequency agnostic solution, GenXComm is exploring early deployments and trials in multiple sizable communications segments.
GenXComm Inc.:
Enabling true full duplex for our next generation communications infrastructure. Today communications between wireless transceivers use multiple frequencies (FDD) or time slots (TDD). GenXComm’s technology enables true full duplex or simultaneous transmission and reception of signals in the same channel. The core value proposition of GenXComm’s technology is to double the usage of the world’s spectrum. GenXComm’s full duplex will be a key enabling technology for an increasing connected world.
