The end-of-April short interest represents 5.23 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 4.81 days for the prior reporting period.
Short interest in 799 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 811,108,534 shares at the end of the settlement date of April 28, 2017 compared with 786,725,908 shares in 795 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 3.24 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 2.61.
In summary, short interest in all 3,121 Nasdaq® securities totaled 8,220,809,416 shares at the April 28, 2017 settlement date, compared with 3,126 issues and 8,179,587,371 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 4.94 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 4.44 days for the previous reporting period.
