Mercury Systems Launches First Model in Secure Rack Server Product Line

ANDOVER, Mass., March 30, 2017 -- Mercury Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRCY) (www.mrcy.com), announced that it has launched the Ensemble® HDS9624 Secure Rack Server to address the need for rack servers with system security features that can be forward deployed or sold to allies under Foreign Military Sales (FMS) or Direct Commercial Sales (DCS) programs. In addition to the unique security features, Mercury’s new product line is the only rack server that includes both ruggedization and a fully trusted supply chain for both hardware and software.

Rack servers deployed for missions in wide-body aircraft, ships, submarines, or ground stations need to be secure, trusted, and rugged. Security comes through system security features that deter reverse engineering. Mercury provides these security features as a turnkey solution or as a customer-private, customizable portfolio of techniques. Trust comes through DMEA accredited design, manufacturing, and testing by US personnel in US facilities that minimize the risk of backdoors, counterfeits, and trojans. The board support package, BIOS, and network stack are designed by US personnel and are available for inspection by government agencies. Ruggedness is delivered by applying ANSI/VITA 48.7 Air Flow-By mechanical and cooling techniques to a standard ATX-based server form factor. Together, the system security features and trusted supply chain of the Secure Rack Server are designed to help system integrators meet U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) instruction 5200.44 “Protection of Mission Critical Functions to Achieve Trusted Systems and Networks.”

“Until now, system security engineering requirements have challenged the rack server form factor, requiring untenable tradeoffs in affordability and system architecture,” said Scott Orton, Vice President of Mercury’s Secure Processing Solutions group. “As a result, many programs were not able to optimize Critical Program Information protection while maintaining the affordability and performance advantages of the rack server form factor. Mercury’s Secure Rack Server product line provides an affordable solution across system security levels.”

The HDS9624 Secure Rack Server is an ATX-class server with two 10-core Intel® Xeon® E5 v4 processors with a cache-coherent memory pool running a single SMP operating system across all cores in both processors. The design of the HDS9624 server is optimized for both memory bandwidth and I/O bandwidth, resulting in a high-performance server architecture that can be used for sensor processing as well as mission computing.

Because the HDS9624 server is based on standard server designs, it benefits from the full software ecosystem for networking, storage, and data center applications. For portability and isolation in a secure setting, the HDS9624 server has options for secure virtualization and a secure hypervisor.

Mercury’s Secure Rack Server product line is designed to address concerns about Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) in the use of commercial servers. Unlike traditional servers that typically are available for only 3 years, Mercury’s Secure Rack Servers offer 10+ years of supply longevity.

A demonstration of Mercury’s Secure Rack Server can be seen at the Navy League’s Sea-Air-Space Exposition in booth #1724. For more information on the HDS9624 Secure Rack Server, visit www.mrcy.com/secureserver or contact Mercury at (866) 627-6951 or [email protected].
