Russian forces launched a series of intense drone and missile attacks on the southeastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro, killing at least 10 people and injuring dozens in one of the most prolonged assaults in recent months. The strikes, which unfolded over more than 20 hours, targeted residential areas and critical infrastructure, highlighting the ongoing شدت of the Russia-Ukraine war.
According to regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha, Dnipro endured at least three waves of attacks from Saturday night through the following day. The initial overnight strike caused a major apartment building to partially collapse, killing four people and trapping others under rubble. Rescue operations were underway when a second attack hit the same location, killing one individual and injuring seven more, raising concerns about deliberate targeting of emergency responders.
As the attacks continued into the evening, eight additional civilians were injured and rushed to hospitals. Ukrainian officials described the assault as a coordinated barrage involving 619 drones and 47 missiles, with air defenses successfully intercepting the majority. However, the scale of the attack still caused significant destruction, fires, and worsening air quality due to heavy smoke.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko condemned the strikes, stating that Russia continues to target civilian infrastructure and prolong suffering across Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged international partners to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense systems to prevent further tragedies.
The violence extended beyond Dnipro, with missile and drone strikes in the northern Chernihiv region killing two people and injuring seven others. Meanwhile, debris from a drone strike landed in neighboring Romania, a NATO member, though no casualties were reported.
Residents in Dnipro expressed grief and anger as rescue teams worked through the wreckage. Survivors described the attacks as relentless and terrifying, underscoring the human toll of the ongoing conflict.
