Music enthusiasts who prefer listening via Vinyl records always say that they do it because the sound is warmer. Well, things are about to reach scorched earth temperatures with the official soundtrack of Doom coming to vinyl. The records are scheduled to be released this summer and they are coming as four different versions, including a very special “special edition.”
This development, which is either going to be the greatest thing to fans since the release of the original Doom or a blasphemous rendition worthy of burning in hell to purists, is the result of a partnership between Bethesda Softworks and Laced Records. Based on the imagery, as featured on Comicbook.com, the set appears to be perfectly crafted for any fan of either vinyl records or Doom or both to enjoy.
A press release also provided more details into what fans can expect from these records, particularly with regards to the specific soundtracks that they will contain. It even goes into detail in terms of what the physical record is all about.
“Cut at the world famous Abbey Road Studios, the DOOM (Original Game Soundtrack) will be available in four formats, spanning a Deluxe Double CD, Double Vinyl with 20 favourite tracks selected by the developers, a Special Edition Four-Disc Vinyl and a Special Limited Edition Vinyl Box Set - pressed on red 180g wax, this Hellish 4 LP collection includes the Deluxe Double CD and a limited-edition customised DOOM turntable slipmat. The Special Limited Edition Vinyl Box Set will only be available via pre-order for a limited time window ending 2nd May 2018 direct from Laced Records,” the press release reads.
“Composed by long-time Bethesda collaborator Mick Gordon, his dark and intense vision channels industrial metal to mirror DOOM’s trademark brutal power fantasy gameplay across 31 synth and metal-filled tracks, spanning over two hours of runtime.”
A list of the versions that fans can get is also featured on Variety. These include the Deluxe Double CD and the Special Limited Edition X4LP, which cost $15 and $100 respectively.
