Will cheaper Google Nexus 6P give iPhone 6S Plus a run for its money?

Google Nexus 6P looks all set to steal the thunder from iPhone 6S Plus. The specifications suggest that the former is bigger but lighter than the latter. Here is a look at some of the key features of the two competing Smartphones:

Display
Nexus 6P: 5.7-inch screen with 1440x2560 pixel resolution (518 PPI)
iPhone 6S Plus: 5.5-inch retina HD display with 1920x1080 pixel resolution (401 PPI)

Dimensions and Weight
Nexus 6P: 159.3x 77.8x7.3, 178 grams
iPhone 6S Plus: 158.2x77.9x7.3, 192 grams

Processor
Nexus 6P: Qualcomm Snapdragon 810
iPhone 6S Plus: A9 chip with 64-bit architecture, Embedded M9 motion coprocessor

Storage
Nexus 6P: 3 GB RAM with 32/64/128 GB storage options
iPhone 6S Plus: 2 GB RAM 16 GB/64 GB/128 GB storage options

Camera
Nexus 6P: 8 MP front camera, 12.3 MP rear camera
iPhone 6S Plus: 5 MP front camera, 12 MP rear camera

Sensors
Nexus 6P: Compass/Magnetometer, proximity sensor, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, barometer
iPhone 6S Plus: Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer

Price:
Nexus 6P: 32 GB variant priced at $499, 64 GB at $549, 128 GB at $649
iPhone 6S Plus: 16 GB variant priced at $749, 64 GB at $849, 128 GB at $949

While a potential buyer will evaluate all the features, a major win for Nexus 6P is, of course, the price. As mentioned above, it is cheaper by $300 dollars as compared to its Apple counterpart (64 GB/128 GB). The amount seems significant enough for anyone considering to buy an Apple iPhone 6S to switch to Nexus 6P.

The iPhone maker announced that it sold over 13 million new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus models, a new record in the first weekend itself. With features of the way cheaper Google Nexus 6P at par with iPhone 6S Plus, the sales of the latter could be badly hit. However, given the strong brand image of Apple, it is a really tough call.
