The battle between Apple and the unc0ver team to create a working iOS 12 Jailbreak that would penetrate version 12.2 and higher is still ongoing. As expected, the Cupertino-based company still has the upper hand, with the latest version of the operating system rolling out yesterday.
The latest iOS 12 Jailbreak unc0ver app is currently in its v3.2.0 and offers a slew of bug fixes, improved user interface, and a native Dark Mode. It amended the "jailbreak-resources to fix an issue with the CS_DEBUGGED option,” Business Times reported.
The unc0ver app has also stepped its game and is now going toe to toe with Chimera, another iOS 12 jailbreak option for those who want to liberate their devices from Apple’s death grip. However, both application still can’t bypass the security measures of version 12.2 and higher.
And with the iOS 13 now available for download, both developers are now trying to find holes within that system that the company may have overlooked. Of course, it’s going to take a while before a working iOS 13 version will be created and everyone will still need to use the iOS 12 jailbreak version for pre-12.2 update.
Developer pwn20wnd previously admitted that it’s been incredibly difficult to worm through Apple’s operating system what with the company ramping up its security protocols. This isn’t surprising as Apple would always update its measures once word gets out that an exploit has been spotted by developers. As such, pwn20wnd said that the current iOS 12 Jailbreak that can run version prior to 12.2 is still the best they can do at this point.
Dire though this situation is for these researchers, others are still optimistic that a backdoor can still be found in the future. Security researcher Dany Lisiansky are among those that are confident that Apple may have overlooked some holes into its security protocols that would pave the way to slink through versions 12.2 and higher.
