Senior Lecturer in French and Francophone Studies, Bangor University
My prime research interest is cultural representations of minority groups in France such as immigrants, ethnic minorities and Muslims. Much of this has focused on contemporary cinema and I am the author of Cinema and the Republic: Filming on the Margins in Contemporary France (Cardiff: University of Wales Press, 2013). I have also published articles concerning debates about national and local identities within the fields of new new media, music, comedy and sport in a French and Francophone context. I am an active member of the Association for the Study of Modern and Contemporary France (ASMCF) and served on its executive committee from 2007-2013 and 2016-18.
