Gabrielle Thongs possess a B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Surveying and Land Information and a M.Sc. in Planning and Development from the Department of Geomatics Engineering and Land Management, UWI, St Augustine. Her Ph.D. research involved assessing multiple hazards and social vulnerabilities in the Caribbean using open source GIS, spatial decision support systems, and risk perception. While furthering her education, she has worked on several regional and local consultancy projects relating to disaster management, social vulnerability, agriculture, land use practices, and GPS systems. She is currently lecturing in the Department of Geography, UWI, St Augustine.
