Dr Abhishek Mukherjee gained his PhD from the University of Waikato in 2017 with a thesis titled 'Mandated CSR expenditure: the Indian experience.' He has an MBA from India and a Postgraduate Diploma in Finance from New Zealand.
Dr Mukherjee's current research focuses on the small business financing gaps. His research aims to analyse the current and prospective venture capital sector for early-stage green technologies. He also investigates how we can use Financial Technology (Fintech) to increase financial inclusion in Maori small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in New Zealand.
Dr Mukherjee has won several research grants. He is currently working on two projects, "Carbon neutral? Prospects for early-stage green investment in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand" and "Can Fintechs help overcome the Maori SMEs' financial gorge?"
