Research Scientist, CSIRO
Dr Laura Blamey is a quantitative marine ecologist at CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere. She has a particular interest in coastal ecosystems and fisheries and her research is focused on a holistic approach, integrating field data, ecosystem /statistical modelling and local knowledge to help better understand changes in marine ecosystems. Research interests include the role of climate, fishing and disturbance in ecosystem change; ecosystem resilience and flip backs; ecosystem services; sustainability of key inshore resources; the effects of fishing and climate on key resource distribution, abundance and behaviour, and how changes in resources and ecosystem can impact ecosystem services and value, and ultimately society. Laura has experience with a range of modelling techniques as well as field work experience in both temperate and tropical ecosystems (including over 15 years research diving experience).
