The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) announced that it will publish several major agricultural reports this November, following delays caused by the ongoing U.S. government shutdown. Among the most anticipated releases is the monthly World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report, now scheduled for November 14. The report, originally planned for November 10, had been postponed as the government remained largely closed since October 1.
This upcoming release marks the first official update on U.S. corn and soybean production since September, when much of the Midwest harvest had not yet been completed. Farmers across major growing regions have since taken to social media to express doubts about previous USDA yield projections, with many suggesting that the department’s earlier estimates were overly optimistic. The November data will therefore be closely watched by analysts, traders, and farmers alike for a clearer picture of 2023 crop conditions and potential adjustments in global supply and demand forecasts.
In addition to the WASDE report, NASS confirmed that the Cattle on Feed report—an important indicator of livestock market trends—will be released as scheduled on November 21. The October edition of this report was also affected by the shutdown.
These reports are essential for understanding the state of U.S. agriculture, influencing commodity markets, and shaping farm management and policy decisions. The November updates will provide fresh insights into production levels, export outlooks, and overall market stability following weeks of uncertainty. As the government resumes operations, the agricultural sector is eager for the data-driven clarity these NASS reports promise to deliver.
